Terminate (Single 2026)
Sunblind
Hardcore
„Murder In The Front Row“ documented the early beginnings of heavy music – especially Thrash Metal – in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1980s. Names from Slayer over Vio-Lence to Death Angel shaped that era. And the scene is still lively, and new names emerge from East Bay, Oakland, CA.
Sunblind is one of them, blasting their Hardcore vision via Indecision Records like Major Pain, Raised Wrong, Tap and Die or The Suicide File. Their logo is a Wild West typography similar to DevilDriver or Owe You Nothing. In black and white on the single cover, it also makes think of the Verschlinger artwork by Sarah Pertermann. „Terminate“ is the song title. A creature, probably a griffin, roars below the bandname. Just like on a crest of arms, as Roadrunner United or Mortal Strike with Darkfall used it.
With members of Look Back & Laugh, Allegiance, Living Eyes, Old Firm Casuals and Andrew Black (Scream, Straggler) on drums, cymbals accompany the bass intro. Then hell breaks lose with the brutally grooving flow. The tight production leaves organic space, as screams echoe along and the guitar refer to a dark soundscape. In the chorus, the drums dash like one of the Metal neighbors as Testament or The King Must Die.
The vocals would also fit any Post Hardcore song like from Canvas, and the shouts in the bridge bring up thoughts of Deafness by Noise or similar. „Terminate“ even grows heavier in the outro, setting a perfect live ending. It simply got everything it takes to be a pure HC hymn and a pleasure for every pit at any venue.
But this is only the beginning. Sunblind are hungry and destroyed the Stay Gold with their show as Second Coming report, and their record „The Undertow“ is on its way..
