Music of the alleys in Vienna’s Villages

Fainschmitz, Wirrbel

Doppelkonzert at Theater am Spittelberg Wien, Austria 20260904

Vienna has got many beautiful spots to offer. Each district is unique and has a special flavor. Within the 7th, this especially applies to Spittelberg. Round the corner of Saint Ulrich and Café Morgenstern, the former village has its own Christmas market. Right across the street from Filmhaus and Tian Bistrot by Paul Ivić, the Theater am Spittelberg is situated.

Outside, the bar is opened earlier already, while the inside one remains closed this evening. Very punctual, the bell rings, and the people take their seats in the three blocks left, right and front of the stage. It is time for a double concert, initiated by the trio Wirrbel

They performed their „Wirrbel. Los!“ album release show at the very place and recently at Queering Favoriten or Café Aera. ‚It’s five to twelve‘, they determine, as they set follows a dramatic arc, going ‚under water‘. With several voices (in canon), harp, guitar, double bass, and trumpet, their acoustic music makes every heart smile.

The album is available on CD, as it is ‚more sustainable than a cloud‘. As second act, they have invited Fainschmitz over to play. Since their third album, the quintet has been in this line-up, featuring Martin ‚Arnold Burk‘ and Michi Schatzmann of Ankathie Koi and Ivery

Fainschmitz begins again“, the presented at 4lthangrund, followed by shows at e.g. Waldsteingarten Pratersauna or Chelsea. They know „How to Floss“ and „Falling Down“, go from the moon („Mond“) to the Wild West with the solo parts like from the trombone, „Aui Oi“ and to the „U6“.

The megaphone is important, like the chain on the snare drum in the final encore „Lied vom Sand“. On 17th October, Fainschmitz will enter the stage at WUK and before at Suhler Theaterfestival. The schedule of Theater am Spittelberg meanwhile continues with a kids program, WIENXTRA-Soundbase Acousticclub, ams, Die Strottern, Frigg, Ulli Bäer and the Wienerlied festival ‚Wien im Rosenstolz‘.
