Arcadia (Single 2026)

Earthset

Experimtental Psychedelic Progressive Alt Rock

Devin Townsend is one of the Progressive masters, already since back in the 90s. Now, about thirty years later, these experimental ideas, the genres Post Rock, Post Punk and related, are very popular. Tours and whole festivals like Ankea promote and celebrate the music of structures, techniques and emotions.

Since „Zemlja“, Earthset published another single named „Shores“ and went on cinematic tour with „Achmed Il Principe“, „La Terra“, „Nosferatu“ and „L’Uomo Meccanico“ in Italy, Switzerland and France. On their new single artwork of „Arcadia“, they use a greyscale photograph like Ismena for her album „Please Don’t Ask Me How I’ve Been“. Like a willow, the reed is dancing in the wind, and the horizon in the back is slightly tilted.

This romantic setting can be felt in the first sounds of „Arcadia“. Even though the lyrics talk about a world, ‚where the gods are dead, certainties have been swept away, and the very sprouting of the seed already holds the omen of its eventual withering.‘ A musical carpet carries the high voice, until the other instruments and drums come on in.

As the waves spread out, the British 60s and 70s names like King Crimson, Sam Gopal or Emerson, Lake & Palmer ring back. The main motive and its repetition has a Stoner Rock feeling. Before the last third, the song undergoes its crescendo, growing meditative in other spheres, as likes of Austin TV do.

In the accompanying video, this transition is depicted with rain, that falls on nature, plants and fruits. Similar to the anicent monochrome silent movies, Earthset work on, the colors are reduced on reddish and blueish scales. Just like Anton Corbijn uses them in his famous music videos, these colors draw attention, leading to „Arcadia“ – the imaginary place of hope, the myth, the utopia.
