Motörhead Day – 8th Of May YouTube Premiere 20200508

Sometimes music fans do weird things coming to their favourite band. Years have passed since it was last possible to see iconic Lemmy perform like at the Nova Rock, Sonisphere or in one of his favourite touring countries Germany.

But the legend is still alive, and so the importance to witness the premiere of the new Motörhead lyric video live is high. Even though it is kind of senseless, as the video will stay there, the stress is to come home from work in time. Because like when watching the funeral back in the days and the documentary every year this has to be celebrated.

For sure “Ace Of Spades” is the most famous and the defining song of the band. It has everything they stand for, a harsh beat by Philthy, the guitar of Fast Eddie whose name already says what’s going on, and, what is the essence, the bass, voice and lyrics of Lemmy. Of course there are many other classics too like “Overkill”, “Bomber”, “Iron Fist”, “Killed By Death” or “I Got Mine”. And pearls like “Suicide”, “Capricorn”, “Be My Baby”, “Burner” or “March Ör Die” too.

After the countdown, the video stars with a kind of drawn background and the Ace Of Spades Logo. In crosslines, the band photos from the album artwork are to be seen. The words appear in bold Western stencil letters with serifs. And more Western symbols follow: jetons, horses and buildings, bringing Walter Hill’s “Wild Bill” with Jeff Bridges to ones mind. More elements are the warpig, cattle skull, cards, broken glass, chains and the dirty ground.

Even though a whole concert for example would have been nice to stream too, for a fan to celebrate the Motörhead Day this is great as well. And in the shop, next to drinks, games and the traditional Lemmy and England shirts, for the weekend you can order a Roadcrew shirt and face mask.
