A Feast of Desertrock in Rain Season

Hermano, Truckfighters, Oneida, Solace

Roadtrip To Outta Space at Arena Wien – Große Halle, Austria 20260511

As the Ice Saints are knocking at the ports of Vienna and bring heavy rain and storm with them, the Arena offers shelter. Sick Thoughts, Bad Weed and Nazi Tampons serve Garage, Punk‘n‘Roll at Dreiraum. And at Große Halle is the ‚Stoner Rock package of the year‘ presented by Roadtrip To Outta Space.

Another wonderful poster by aplacefortom announces the four bands, beginning with the mighty strong Solace. With bluesy vibes, they unleash a load of energy. Being around since 30 years, they have new material to present and can go back quarter of a century, climaxing their short set with „Khan (World of fire)“.

Only one year later, in 1997, Oneida started their experimental Rock – ‚a little bit of Kraut[-rock]‘, as a visitor notices. Hypnotic, minimalistic, repeating patterns, that make their protagonists twitch behind their instruments. „Don‘t Judge Me“, they chant and „Each One Teach One“.

The next long awaited return is from Truckfighters, as they cancelled their last show in town. Only good memories remained after their appearance at poolbar festival 2012, and so will fourteen years later. Because it seems that this trio has endless power like Mothership, as especially guitarist Dango still jumps, kicks and spins across the stage, playing over head.

At a point, he takes out the acoustic guitar, and originating from Örebro, Sweden, they still try to teach their audience how to pronounce the city‘s name. The „Desert Cruise“ finally is back and won‘t be stopped or slowed down, as they even remember it‘s their 20th anniversary at Arena and continue the tour to Rockhouse and Desertfest London.

Desertfest is the key word for Hermano featuring John Garcia, who played e.g. at Desertfest New York. In here, they spotted a poster at the very place from a gig ages ago as well. On stage they like to joke (‚this is Jon Bon Jovi and he is wanted dead or alive‘) and adress everyone who has to work the following Tuesday, as they have their jobs at home too.

At the end, they ‚chose kindness‘ and ‚togetherness‘ as there is a lot of ‚shit going on‘ and leave to John Lennon‘s „Imagine“.
