Great Gigs but Too Many Bulls

Red Bull Music Festival Wien

Wiener Prater, Austria 20180509

The weather report was changing a lot, but finally the sun is shining, as people enter the Wiener Prater to see local music heroes in and around the Riesenrad. So if you ignore what company stands behind this event, the Red Bull Music Festival is a nice thing.

Onk Lou & The Better Life Inc. open the evening with their rocking show. The guy with the big voice is full of energy as always. As well is his band including Michael Dey. Second group on the open air stage is Leyya, the Electro Pop group which not only earned the FM4 Award at the Amadeus 2017 but also the prize in the category Alternative 2018. Their sound fits to the beautiful evening. No wonder they will play the legendary Wiener Konzerthaus soon.

One very interesting act are the Wiener Sängerknaben who are on stage next. They promised some surprises. Starting with a very cool Falco cover, the boys get joined on stage by Klaus Eberhartinger (EAV) as well as by Skero. Obviously they have a lot of fun here. Meanwhile the Electro stage opened its doors for acts like Ogris Debris. If you want to see this show, you have to be quick. You also have to be quick for the gigs in the waggons of the Riesenrad if you weren’t happy to win a slot. Then you can wait for hours to get in there.

The headliner on the main stage are Granada who deliver a cool show including all hits like “Ottakring”. On the Hip Hop stage in the Waggon 31, Nazar gets the crowd pumped up. A great gig, only the permanent advertisement for Red Bull reaches a sad peak, as he gives cans to the audience after every song. Conclusion: a great opportunity to see local music but a PR event for a concern too.
