Melding The Blues And Heaviness

Stoned Jesus, The Devil And The Almighty Blues, Somali Yacht Club

SOL Sonic Ride Tour presented by Sound Of Liberation and Roadtrip To Outta Space, Arena Wien – Große Halle, Austria 20191126

After the sold out Post Rock Action with Godspeed You! Black Emperor presented by Roadtrip To Outta Space on Monday, on Tuesday some other brain washing highlights return to the big hall of the Arena.

The planned headliner My Sleeping Karma, which toured with Colour Haze for example, unfortunately had to cancel. But a great replacement was found and a free drink as compensation offered. But first, the trio Somali Yacht Club from the Ukraine present their huge sound. They convince with their rhythm changes and elegant virtuosity like a classic string ensemble. The reactions they call forth let them smile, and the Mantar shirt of bassist Artur some in the audience.

The Devil And The Almighty Blues jumped in for MSK. After their great show at the small hall together with The Great Machine in May, it is their second gig this year in Vienna. It is the wonderful duel guitars and energy of their blues sound that drag you along. The amazing “Salt The Earth” out of some reason reminds of “Capricorn” and the beautiful lightshow helps the atmosphere, plus their latest tour poster design is still available as shirt.

Stoned Jesus now play as headliner like last time with Mothership and Elephant Tree, which they remember too. It is their 10th anniversary tour. Since “First Communion” they think they got better and are “pretty cool” now, they joke. They got huge highlights on every record, but also one in the audience would be happy with the latest “Pilgrims” in full length. Three other friends just happily hug each other hearing the sound that wonderfully melds Stoner Rock, Doom and Blues. Stoned Jesus definitely is part of Black Sabbath’s heritage, and more Roadtrips will feature Lightning Dust, Hexvessel and Russian Circles with Torche.
