When the days are hot, maybe the best place for concerts is a basement deep underground. At the Viper Room, many stairs lead to the floor, where just the day before, some Hardcore action went down with Get The Shot.
This Thursday, it is time for the last Austrian Metal Salute presented by Metal Lab for now. What began with The Röad Crew and Küenring, continued with Dark and Goth from Lolita Komplex and Post Metal from Anderwelt, now offers a last show named the Heavy Riffs Night.
The first band on the billing is Out Of Nothing. In autumn, they played at Cafe Carina. Since then, they reduced from two guitarists to only one, what still works great on songs like their self-titled song with slayeresque riff or „Corporate Cannibal“. „The Moment Of Truth“ talks of rich living on the backs of the poor, followed by „Senseless“. For the pirates story „His Name“, singer Mr. Nothing performs a little dance, and with „Psychedelic King“, they premiere a brand new tune.
With band number two, the atmosphere in the snake cave gets way darker. Endonomos play absolutely wonderful Doom, beautifully slow and sounding vilely tormenting. Singer Där Haidinger can switch between growls and clean sining, so their style reminds of likes of Hamferð, Isole, Officium Triste or 1782. The best news is, that their music soon will be available on their debut album out via Argonauta Records on August 26. Also they just need five songs to fill their stage time, yet the album will have six.
As third act, Lowbau make their fans move with their fantastic Southern Groove Metal and tracks like „Alcoholic“. Like when performing with Mothers Of The Land, they handle them with humor as well. As they are quite experienced, they mark a great end of the first round of Austrian Metal Salute. And at the Viper Room, many more Heavy Riffs are ahead with Death Before Dishonor, Agnostic Front, Marky Ramone, Cro-Mags, Uada, D.R.I., Unearth, Obscura, Implore, Benighted, Rivers Of Nihil, Corvus Corax and Saliva to name a few.
