The End Is The Beginning
DuoLia., Manuel Gaudêncio
Kramladen Wien, Austria 20221028
Somehow this October just ends how it started: with some Indie Folk Singer-Songwriter music at the wonderful Kramladen like at the Yunger release show with Sam Chalcraft. While Kreiml & Samurai do their Hip Hop show at Gasometer and Hypocrisy spread their Metal at SIMMCity, it gets cosy and homey at the arches 39-40.
This time, the support act is Manuel Gaudêncio from Portugal. Just recently, he organized his own solo gig at Coco, and he is in a big band as well, as he tells. He does songs from his EP „The Bubble“ like „Waterfall“ amongst others, talking about ghosts and LSD. Mostly he plays softly plugged split chords, and with his final Portuguese traditional song, he demonstrates, how much is in just two chords mainly.
Tonights main act is DuoLia. from the Bregenz Forest. Their constant great work underlines their potential, that they proof on stage again. For the start, they play „Gold On The Ceiling“ of The Black Keys. The outstanding original „Sailing“ follows. Their instrumental skills they show for example in playful transitions or ukulele solos. „Holy Water“ is another one from their EP „In Process“. For Winterbourne’s „Sunrise“, they get a pick from the audience. Then they perform their latest single with music video „Pretty Ugly“ with its beautiful gloomy harmony. Another new song they gave the working title „Poison“, and „Something To Stand On“ they both wrote in parts, when they moved to Vienna.
Like e.g. gab&gal, they decided to write in their native language as well and so they present their first German song. As the concert tends to end, they do a medley of „Seven Nation Army“ and other famous melodies. DuoLia. should have a bright future ahead of them, with their expressive musicality enchanting their listeners. And a poster announces another interesting evening at Kramladen with mp4*live and SodL..
