„King Of The Hill“ EP Release Show, Café Aera Wien, Austria 20230623

Friday night at the Metropol center of Vienna. Twenty minutes by public transport you could reach Kramladen hosting Out Of Nothing, or in other direction the Donauinselfest featuring likes of AF90. Meanwhile at Café Aera, where e.g. Churchpenny Allstars rocked, ‚two really creative and unique bands‘ assemble for an EP presentation.

Until the start, Hip Hop vibes float through the basement room of likes of Snoop Dogg. Then StoneFree member Cadû start as support, who performed at Chelsea last year with IDDD. On side of guitarist Clemens Hackmack, the cable tangle dominates and a troll catches the eye. They start with newer songs with their new drummer Martin Pöschmüller taking back to 60s and 70s Psychedelic Prog Rock including „DNA“. From the debut, they pick „Create A Haze“ and „Hyenas“ and as encore, they deliver „Des is a Race Car“. Their show is bursting with energy as usual, captured by Sam Safari and recorded by Götz Raimund on video.

Already when getting downstairs to the place, you get a free download for the new EP „King Of The Hill“ by Liberation Orchestra. They produced it together with tonight’s sound engineer Arian of Castingcouch. Live, the twelve of them are a force, bonding you immediatly with Emerson, Lake & Palmer harmonies like in „Dream“ and Patrick Williams 80s drive like in „The Shake Up“. It is about turning the world upside down so things might get better, as conductor Ron Oppenheim tells. As he lived in Israel and the US, he likes to mix styles in music like Oddplay and thinks it would be good in real world as well.

Unlike other conductors, he jumps up and down to tracks like „Psycho“, „Boy with a toy“ and the final „Shine“. The Liberation Orchestra definitely offers a show and music ‚you’ve never heard before‘ as it says on their website. Indeed both acts are unique and make this evening special (again).
